Those of you who follow me will remember that I have posted, time and again, that the Proposition 8 ruling will decide an issue of Equal Protection. And I was correct.
I had little hope that it would be decided my way, which naturally I feel is the correct way, but to read the Judge's words, I am once again refreshed in my optimism for the rule of law and the strength of the Constitution. I am again proud that our history of lifetime appointments for federal judges has once again proven its value.
I am again prepared for the right wing to classify any judicial ruling, no matter how obvious it was likely to be, that goes against their contortion of the Constitution, as judicial activism.
After a long day of "debating" the proposed community center in New York with those that would toss out our Constitution in favor of petty prejudices and simplistic dogma, I am once again proud to be an American. I am proud to actually offer the World yet another example of the promise of our Republic.
Long live the United States of America.
P. S. To Arnold Schwarzenegger, you are a good man Sir [on this day]. And I loved you in True Lies.
